Admissions Requirements
The Accounting minor provides students with a comprehensive accounting background; admission is competitive and based on overall UCLA grade-point average, grade-point average in pre-admission courses, and grades in Management 1A and 1B. Decisions on admission to the minor are made by the Anderson School Accounting Area.
Applications are accepted in fall, winter, and spring quarters. Non-transfer students must apply subsequent to completing 90 units. Transfer students must apply after completing two academic quarters (excluding summer sessions) at UCLA.
To enter the minor, students must
- (1) have a minimum cumulative UCLA grade-point average of 3.0,
- (2) complete all required pre-admission courses with a minimum course grade-point average of 3.0, and
- (3) receive grades of B or better in Management 1A and 1B. Students who do not earn a B in 1A and 1B must take MGMT 120A and earn at least a B. MGMT 120A will not be included in the preparation GPA calculation.
If Management 1A and/or 1B are not taken at UCLA, students must complete courses 120A and 122 prior to admission to the minor earning a B or better in both courses. Students must earn a grade of C or better in all other preparation courses.
Repetition of more than one pre-admission course or of any pre-admission course more than once results in automatic denial of admission to the minor.
Satisfying these requirements does not guarantee admission to the program, as only a limited number of students are admitted each year.
This GPA Calculator (Excel) will help when trying to calculate your preparation GPA.

Can I satisfy any minor courses at another institution?
Students are allowed to complete the preparation courses at another institution. All upper division coursework MUST be taken at UCLA.
If you have not yet enrolled in a course at another institution, please contact accounting.minor@anderson.ucla.edu BEFORE enrolling to verify that the course you are planning on taking does in fact satisfy one of the minor preparation courses.
If you have already completed courses at another institution, please send all transcripts to the UCLA Admission Office. If the UCLA Admissions Office has not recognized the courses you took as equivalent to anything offered here at UCLA, please email a detailed syllabus of the course to accounting.minor@anderson.ucla.edu for approval.
Transfer credit is subject to department approval and is considered only for the pre-admission courses.
