SUSAN COWELL

Director & FEMBA Career Coach

Susan Cowell, Director & FEMBA Career Coach, brings over 20 years experience in the field of career management and leadership to UCLA.

In her most recent position with Lee Hecht Harrison, she managed the consultants and coached executives in the Southern California Region. She is proud to have led a team that delivered the highest quality in the company. Prior to joining Lee Hecht Harrison, Susan spent 18 years with Drake Beam Morin, where she held positions of increasing responsibility. Drake Beam Morin and Lee Hecht Harrison are leading international career management firms who work with mid-career business professionals and executives from Fortune 500 companies.

During her tenure with Drake Beam Morin, Susan held a variety of positions in counseling, coaching, sales, marketing and leadership. She is an experienced counselor and coach, and has had the opportunity to work with individuals from all industries and functions. In her most recent position as Senior Vice President for North American Operations Support, she managed 5 teams and over 120 employees and was responsible for Quality, Project Management, Internal Sales and Web-learning. In these roles, she had the opportunity to develop strategic initiatives within the organization that improved quality, leadership, profit and revenue while improving employee morale.

Susan’s background also includes entrepreneurial experience as owner of Executive Career Services, a career management firm. She helped to build this small company into a $3 million business with offices throughout southern California in less than 1 year. The firm specialized in providing individual career counseling and executive coaching to business professionals and executives. Early in her career, Susan worked at Humboldt State University, in the Student Employment Office, assisting students in the early stages of their education and career.

Susan received her Bachelors of Arts Degree in Social Ecology from the University of California, Irvine and also holds a California teaching credential. She was past president of the International Association of Career Management Professionals and a member of ASTD.

PAM SCHULZ

Associate Director & FEMBA Career Coach

Pam Schulz has held corporate and leadership positions in consulting, technology, consumer durables and entertainment. She began her business career as a systems consultant with Arthur Andersen (now Accenture), working with small business clients as both an individual contributor and project team leader. This technical role was a solid foundation for later career positions in product management and marketing for technology companies in industries ranging from wireless and software to e-commerce and electronics. Pam spearheaded revenue growth from new products for divisions of large publicly-traded companies and smaller entrepreneurial enterprises. With the founders of a wireless startup, she participated in 51 new venture pitches, resulting in VC financing and a later successful exit via acquisition. This diverse experience proved useful when she oversaw marketing and product management at Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment for its consumer software and online digital video-sharing service for user-created content—before YouTube! As a consultant advising executive management teams at Epson, Belkin and others, Pam has provided the “know-how” and the "know-why" to guide decisions about growth options, strategy and execution.

Pam has hired, developed and coached members of the product management and marketing teams she’s led, as well as provided ad hoc career coaching to students at UCLA and Anderson. She started a job search accountability team for executives in transition modeled on the ACT methodology developed by UCLA Anderson for its alumni seeking new opportunities. Pam earned her B.S. from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and M.B.A. from UCLA. She enjoys sculling in the Marina at the UCLA Aquatic Center and lives in Culver City with her husband and two rambunctious rescue dogs.

JACKEE MCNITT-ENGLES

Career Coach

Jackee McNitt Engles provides executive coaching to the FEMBA and EMBA students at Anderson and teaches leadership in the EMBA program. In addition, she serves as Lead Faculty in the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program, an initiative created through a partnership with Goldman Sachs, Babson College, and designated U.S. cities to provide instruction and support to small business owners on the cusp of growth. In her spare time, she teaches in the University of La Verne’s MBA and Masters in Leadership degree programs, and in the Cal State San Bernardino MBA program. In the past, she served as the Senior Director of Executive Management and Outreach Programs for the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University, and as faculty in Claremont Graduate University’s (CGU) Community College Professional Leadership Certificate Program and UCI’s certificate programs in Human Resources and Business Management.

Her deep corporate experience stems from 15 years managing training and communication functions for Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank. As Vice President of Employee Communications for Wells Fargo, she served as a communication strategist and manager for eight acquisitions and a variety of other large scale corporate changes including diversity programs, reorganizations, and major human resources and benefits redesigns.

Jackee holds an Executive MBA from the Drucker School of Management at Claremont Graduate University and graduated from California Lutheran University with a BA and teaching credential in Theatre Arts. She serves on the Advisory Board for Vanguard University’s Organizational Psychology degree programs and is a member of the International Leadership Association (ILA), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Association for Talent Development (ATD). Over the years, she has been published in magazines, newsletters, and professional journals and her work has been highlighted in Managing Workforce 2000, 1001 Ways to Reward Employees, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times and France’s Le Tribune. She is a past recipient of the annual Award of Excellence from the Orange County Chapter of the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD – now ATD).
