PROMISE THROUGH PARTNERSHIP

Be a part of the partnership that amplifies education to promising students.

The Center for Media, Entertainment & Sports provides programming, thought leadership and educational opportunities meant to address the most impactful current and future trends related to the business of entertainment. We are discovering that diversity and inclusion presents an incredible opportunity for the industry. The Inclusion Initiative for Leadership in Media, Entertainment and Sports is designed to respond to a critical industry need for an increasingly diverse talent pool by developing and growing a pipeline of diverse business leaders with an interest in entertainment management. Inclusion has become a strategic area of focus in the fields of media, entertainment and sports, and through this initiative, we aim to increase the number of underrepresented students pursuing an education in entertainment management.

In 2017, the center launched a partnership with Howard University with the specific goals of increasing diversity in the career pipeline and placing promising talent in full-time internships at sports and entertainment companies. As the program evolves, our goal is to accommodate a larger cohort of students.

The center funds qualifying Howard University students to attend UCLA’s six-week Summer Institute and complete capstone projects in the business of sports and entertainment at major L.A.-based companies such as FOX, Disney and the CW Network. Sponsored in its inaugural year by AT&T, where UCLA Anderson alumnus John Stankey (’91) is CEO, and championed by Lionsgate vice chairman and Anderson alumnus Michael Burns (’92), the partnership represents industry executives’ commitment to sealing career pipeline leaks. Additional partners include Sony Pictures, Los Angeles Clippers, Lyft, Native Tongue Communications and Mirror Digital.
