The Howard and Irene Levine Program in Housing and Social Responsibility is a multifaceted set of enterprises designed to challenge and inspire students to think about broader societal concerns in the context of their professional and personal pursuits. The program’s resources, such as the UCLA Distinguished Speaker Series in Affordable Housing and the Howard J. Levine Distinguished Lecture on Business Ethics, empower UCLA faculty and doctoral students to undertake cutting edge research in the field, and enables the Ziman Center to serve the community by promoting public dialogue and education.

Howard and Irene Levine Affordable Housing Development Program

The UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate's Howard and Irene Levine Affordable Housing Development Program (LAHDP) is a university-level educational program designed to provide professionals with the knowledge and practical skills to effectively address our affordable housing crisis at the neighborhood level. Drawing on UCLA's existing affordable housing educational programming, the LAHDP cohort will receive instruction from UCLA faculty and affiliated professionals utilizing proven instruction methodologies and teaching materials.

The Howard J. Levine Distinguished Lecture on Business Ethics & Social Responsibility is a lecture series presented annually by the UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate. The series brings the most distinguished business practitioners and scholars to UCLA for lectures that enlighten and engage students on the concepts of business ethics and how to apply them in real-world settings.

UCLA Distinguished Speaker Series in Affordable Housing

The UCLA Distinguished Speaker Series in Affordable Housing brings leading industry experts and scholars to UCLA to engage students on the critical issues related to urban and rural housing markets, and housing policy and sustainability, particularly the housing needs and outcomes of low-income and workforce households. Leading business practitioners and policymakers discuss the current trends in affordable housing development and preservation in Southern California.

Housing as Health Care Initiative
The UCLA Ziman Center for Real Estate's "Housing as Health Care Initiative" seeks to raise awareness about issues related to the intersection between housing and health care sectors. From housing affordability and food insecurity to community-based health and neighborhood economic stability, this initiative takes a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach by partnering with other UCLA schools and groups, along with external organizations, to connect academicians, industry and community leaders, policymakers, and students with the goal of promoting greater understanding of these challenging issues.
