Fast-Track completion

The UCLA Registrar’s Calendar provides academic and holiday schedules for upcoming years, which can help you with your long-term planning.

Fast-Track

Some students opt to fast-track during the elective portion of the program, allowing them to finish up to six months early in as few as two years and a quarter. This is accomplished by taking three or more elective courses per quarter.

Alternatively, students with considerable career and/or family obligations may stretch their studies to a maximum of five years.

What is FAST-TRACKING

Fast-tracking allows FEMBA students to take additional courses beyond the standard two-course per quarter load to finish the program in as little as two years and a quarter.

How can I FAST-TRACK

There are multiple opportunities to fast-track, including:

  • Global Electives: Global Immersions & Exchanges
  • Electives: Enrolling in more than 8 units per quarter

When may I begin FAST-TRACKING?

  • Global Electives: summer after your first year.
  • Electives: spring of your first year pending on GPA qualification.

Will I pay more to FAST-TRACK?

No, based on the per-unit-fee model you pay for courses in which you are enrolled in. Financial aid may be applied to fast-tracking.

When is the earliest I can graduate?

After two years and a quarter in December of the third year of the program.

Can I graduate earlier than fall quarter of my third year?

No. All UCLA graduate students must complete a capstone project (GAP or BCO), which concludes in fall of the student’s third year. December of the third year is the earliest FEMBA students can graduate.

What if, after FAST-TRACKING, I decide I want to take more classes and graduate at the standard time in June?

No problem. Upon reaching the program unit requirement, you decide whether to graduate early or continue on to the next quarter. The decision is completely up to you. Additional administrative fees apply.
