Another Superb Year of Achievements in Research and Teaching

On behalf of Chairman of the Faculty Sanjay Sood and myself, I’d like to acknowledge the outstanding teaching and research by UCLA Anderson faculty throughout the 2022–23 academic year. As examples of how their work has affected their fields as well as the wider world, Professors Cassie Holmes and Hal Hershfield each published excellent books for general audiences, with a shared goal of teaching readers about happiness and future peace of mind. Professors Tyler Muir and Valentin Haddad earned the prestigious Dimensional Fund Advisors Prize for their paper “Do Intermediaries Matter for Aggregate Prices.?” Professor Chris Tang authored numerous op-eds on essential topics for major news publications. And, collectively, the faculty contributed their knowledge to the common good through countless interviews with national and local media.

Of course, these constitute just a fraction of the good works achieved this year by our faculty, whose collective accomplishments are too numerous to list completely.

I’d also like to personally acknowledge Sanjay’s Sood’s many contributions as faculty chair. As you know, Sanjay is stepping down from that role at the end of June. I look forward to continuing the school’s good work with our new faculty chair, Professor Margaret Shih.

Finally, I’m proud to present the 2022–23 awards to faculty and two outstanding Ph.D. students. Congratulations to each of you, and please accept my sincerest gratitude for all of your support and good works.
