Biography

Tamara L. Berges (B.A. '92), MBT, is a certified public accountant and certified financial planner who received her technical training through her UCLA undergraduate degree in business/economics and her master's degree in taxation from USC Marshall School of Business.

At UCLA Anderson, Berges teaches a number of courses in the school's undergraduate accounting program. These include Intermediate Accounting, Corporate and Individual Accounting and Entrepreneurial Finance and Accounting.

Berges developed strong tax planning and compliance skills through her years at Deloitte as a senior tax manager. At Deloitte and in her personal accounting practice, Berges has directly served both businesses and high-net-worth individuals. It was during her time at Deloitte that she developed her love of teaching in the company's national training program. She has since sought avenues to continue teaching, first at Cal Lutheran and now at her alma mater.

"I'm someone who brings the practical into focus," Berges says. "The best part for me is mentoring students. They are making life decisions as they go on to job opportunities. Guiding them through that process is instrumental."

Berges specializes in real estate, entertainment and technology companies and works with multistate and international tax clients. She has extensive experience with LLCs, corporations, trusts and individual tax returns.
