Rotation Manager, Activision Blizzard

Congratulations on your graduation! What’s next?

I’ve returned to my summer internship employer, Activision Blizzard, as part of the company’s MBA rotational program. I’m especially thrilled to be working on the Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 production team at Infinity Ward for my first rotation! I’ve only been here for three weeks and I’m finding numerous opportunities to apply the knowledge and skills I developed at Anderson.

When you started at Anderson two years ago, what was your plan?

I came to Anderson wanting to pursue something at the intersection of entertainment and technology, with the hopes of starting my own education entertainment venture — which was the focus of my Business Creation Option capstone project. My interest in education still holds, but I discovered a career path in the gaming industry after taking Professor Brian Farrell’s video game class. I am now deeply invested in working in the interactive entertainment space.

Was there a class, experience or involvement opportunity that was a highlight during your time at Anderson?

One of my favorite classes was Michael Montgomery’s Technological Innovations in Media and Entertainment class. It was 10 weeks, 10 different topics at the intersection of technology and entertainment, with 10-guest speakers. Almost all the guest speakers were executives giving us insights into how they were currently positioning their businesses in the face of new disruptive technologies. The class allowed me to see how leaders make decisions with high amounts of ambiguity and uncertainty.

How has the Anderson experience changed you?

On a macro level, I see how powerful business is in shaping our world. On a more personal level, I find myself reflecting deeply on what I truly value, and where to spend my time and energies. Anderson helped me discover that it’s possible to pursue a career that is both meaningful and sustainable.

What do you think makes Anderson different from other business schools?

I chose Anderson because I knew it was where I would be the happiest intellectually, physically and emotionally. I was able to learn from amazing faculty, guest speakers and peers. I got to partake in all sorts of outdoor activities all year around. Anderson also draws in people who don’t see success as a zero-sum game. It’s a work-hard/play-hard environment, but not a cutthroat place; everyone truly wants to see everyone else succeed.
