Join UCLA Anderson's San Francisco Bay Area alumni chapter to go behind the scenes at Instagram with Market Operations Lead Jim Hu '13 to follow what the connective, experiential photo service is implementing to not only drive engagement among its users but ultimately to generate revenue. Jim will share insights on product and go-to-market strategy the company is developing to monetize the extensive amount of content that flows through its networks. Since its launch in October 6, 2010 and acquisition by Facebook for $1 billion in 2012, Instagram has grown its user base to more than 500 million regular visitors.

Jim Hu '13
Market Operations Lead, Instagram

Jim Hu is a Market Operations Lead at Instagram, a division of Facebook, where he runs strategy and go-to-market for platform monetization products.

Prior to Instagram, Jim was Head of Business Operations at Yahoo! Sports where he oversaw strategy and monetization for the site’s portfolio of businesses, including Rivals.com and fantasy sports. During his tenure at Yahoo!, he held product marketing and operations roles for products that touch hundreds of millions of users around the world, such as Yahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Messenger.

Jim started his career as a news reporter at CNET, where we won numerous awards for his coverage of the tech industry. ?Jim received an undergraduate degree at Tufts University and an MBA at the UCLA Anderson School of Management.
