Announcing the UCLA Anderson Leadership Giving Challenge: Double Your Impact!

New challenge focuses on support for UCLA Anderson students and faculty

Dynamic students and brilliant faculty are the very heart of UCLA Anderson, making our school exciting, innovative and always evolving.

During the final 12 months of our $300 million Into the Next campaign, we will focus on fostering support for UCLA Anderson students and faculty ― our highest fundraising priorities.

Now, because of the inspirational legacy of our generous benefactor Marion Anderson, we are excited to announce the $20 million Anderson Leadership Giving Challenge!

In 2015, when Marion Anderson made her historic $100 million gift to the school, she designated a portion to incentivize alumni and friends of UCLA Anderson to join her in supporting student fellowships and faculty.

“All of us who contribute to Anderson have one over-arching goal: We want to make a real and lasting impact in support of the school, our faculty and students”

“My parents always believed in investing in the future, creating opportunities to make the lives of others better,” said Judy Munzig, Marion’s stepdaughter. “They felt that philanthropy was the ultimate measure of our lives. With their gifts, they were urging others to ‘do the right thing,’ to be the vital rung in the ladder of success for students, for faculty and for the communities they serve.”

As a result, $20 million of Marion Anderson’s transformative gift is dedicated to this new Giving Challenge, directing a 100 percent match of new gifts of $250,000 to $1.5 million to endowments that support student fellowships and faculty.

“All of us who contribute to Anderson have one over-arching goal: We want to make a real and lasting impact in support of the school, our faculty and students,” said Interim Dean Al Osborne. “This Giving Challenge doubles the desired impact on our areas of highest need.”

Here’s why each area of need is so important:

Student fellowships are key to helping Anderson attract the best and brightest students at a time of increasing competition among leading business schools. To attract and enroll the best students, those who will shape our future, we must do more to offset rising tuition costs and reduce the student debt burden, which averages more than $90,000 per student.

We must also continue to support the exceptional faculty we have at Anderson. Faculty represent an academic institution’s intellectual capital; they are the stewards of our reputation and help to attract the very best graduate students.

At Anderson, our faculty’s cutting-edge research, teaching and classroom innovations are key reasons to boost levels of support. Among other goals, we hope to fund additional chairs to help recognize excellence among current faculty and compete for the best new faculty.

Every gift that leverages the match will help us build our endowment, an invaluable resource. A healthy endowment cements our promise to future students and faculty that we will continue to strengthen and enhance programs throughout the school.

You can make a real difference — enhancing the learning experience of our students here at Anderson and the impact of our students and faculty out in the world.
