After graduating from UCLA Anderson, Kristine Pearce ('10) gave birth, quit her job to raise her daughter, and re-located to work in Manila. When she moved back to the U.S. in 2017, it was challenging to find a fulfilling career while maintaining a work life balance. Then, she learned about Anderson’s inaugural Career Re-LAUNCH program. The program offered Kristine a supportive alumnae community, access to faculty and Alumni Career Services' career coaching sessions. “Before Career Re-LAUNCH, I would only look at a job if it was an exact fit,” she says. “I realized I was eliminating myself from a lot of opportunities by having a very narrow focus and not even trying at all.” After completing the program, she joined Amazon's Web Services team as a Senior Customer Solutions Manager. Leveraging his own industry experience—including a stint as the head of growth strategy and economic research at Uber—Associate Professor M. Keith Chen developed a Technology Analytics course to meet the interests of today’s students and data-centric external marketplace. Business strategy is typically taught using case studies, but the concept of this course was to provide students a big data set to assess the decisions an organization made. As part of their assignments, Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) and MBA program students also learn new high-tech analysis tools, which Keith regards as a "super power.” Learn more.
