Professor Bill Cockrum
Bill Cockrum Aims to Make the World a Better Place
Professor Bill Cockrum is known to generations of Anderson students. His impact on the Anderson community is immeasurable—not only as a teacher and advisor—but also as a major donor and evangelist for Anderson. When he was a Wall Street finance executive, Bill was approached by Senior Associate Dean Al Osborne to teach a course on entrepreneurship in 1985. Recognizing a need for instructors to pair academic theory with industry experience, Bill stayed on to expand the Price Center for Entrepreneurship & Innovation and create more courses, including what would become the Student Investment Fund. Believing that everyone should find a place where they can give back and make a difference—Bill decided that UCLA is that place for him. To date, he has donated more than $10 million to UCLA Anderson and plans to leaves the school an estimated $30 million future gift. Read more.
