Stewart Bainum ('70) Recognized with John E. Anderson Distinguished Alumni Award
"Self-awareness is perhaps the most important strength a leader can have, along with a willingness to understand other people and empathize with them." This is one of many essential leadership attributes Stewart Bainum ('70) learned in a managerial psychology course. The soft skills that he developed during his UCLA MBA experience has served him well. As the chairman of Choice Hotels, Bainum is helping hotel franchisees, hit hard by the current pandemic, to get the support they need to manage the crisis. When it comes to philanthropy, Bainum chooses causes where he can make the biggest difference. For UCLA Anderson, he has established two fellowships and serves as a Board of Advisors member. In recognition of his career accomplishments, philanthropy and generosity toward UCLA Anderson, Bainum is the recipient of the 2020 John E. Anderson Distinguished Alumni Award. Read more.
