An award-winning teacher and respected scholar in the areas of corporate finance Antonio Bernardo will become the new dean of UCLA Anderson School of Management, effective July 1. Bernardo, who holds the Joel Fried Chair in Applied Finance, received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Western Ontario and a doctorate in economics from Stanford University. Since beginning his academic career at UCLA Anderson 25 years ago, Bernardo has served on many Anderson committees and did a term as senior associate dean where he co-led major strategic intitives, including an effort to improve the strength and diversity of Anderson’s faculty. “I believe deeply in our research and teaching mission and I am extremely proud to be a part of one of the world’s great public universities, tackling society’s most-vexing problems,” Bernardo said. “I look forward to leading the Anderson community as we engage that mission with a spirit of collaboration, innovation and purpose.” Bernardo will succeed Al Osborne, who has served as interim dean this past year.
