
Marvin Lieberman is a Professor in the Policy area at UCLA
Anderson School of Management. From 1982 to 1989, he was Assistant
Professor of Business Policy in the Graduate School of Business
at Stanford University, and during the 1989-1990 academic
year, he was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution,
Stanford University. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. degrees
(in Economics and Business Economics, respectively) from Harvard
University. His current research focuses on issues relating to (1) market entry and (2) productivity and performance comparisons of American and foreign manufacturing firms. His broader teaching and
research interests are in the areas of competitive strategy,
industrial economics and operations management. He is the
author of numerous articles in professional journals, on topics
such as cost reduction and productivity improvement, market
entry and exit, and strategic investment. His paper on "First
Mover Advantages" (co-authored with David Montgomery)
was awarded the 1996 Best Paper Prize by the Strategic Management
Society. |
