UCLA Anderson Launches New Summer Institute for Students Interested in Technology Leadership

Program open to all majors

LOS ANGELES (March 16, 2016) – UCLA Anderson School of Management’s Easton Technology Management Center is launching an innovative summer program for students of all majors interested in pursuing a career in today’s digital world.

The Technology Leadership Summer Institute is a six-week program held between June 20 and July 29, 2016, exploring the many vital areas of technology leadership through innovation, big and small data, and leadership through communications. This institute is designed for undergraduate, graduate or visiting students from universities in the U.S. or abroad who are interested in pursuing a career where technology plays a key role in everyday business functioning – which today, is any industry.

“This program will equip students with the critical skills to become effective technology leaders, such as team management and analytics,” says Guillaume Roels, Easton’s faculty director. “Technology is pervasive across multiple industries, and understanding its disruptive role on business is essential for tomorrow’s workforce.”

According to Forbes and Business Insider, collaboration, sales, SQL, data analysis, and quantitative data are among the top skills employers desire most in a graduates. Technology Leadership students will learn these skills and gain hands-on experience by working on a team-based project to develop a new product from ideation to launch.

Other aspects of the new program include company visits and learning from industry professionals as guest speakers and panelists. Students will have the option to select one of two tracks based on their background and interest, Leadership Through Communication or Data Management and Analytics – Big and Small Data. “As organizations become more digital, it is becoming critical to understand technology to perform and manage successfully,” according to Vandana Mangal, Easton’s executive director.

Upon completion of the course work, credits may be awarded to students currently enrolled in a degree-granting program.
