Los Angeles — UCLA Anderson, in conjunction with the Real Options Group, will host the fifth annual international conference on "Real Options: Theory Meets Practice," July 13-14 at UCLA.

The conference brings together academics and practitioners who are at the forefront in applying a new method for evaluating investment projects — known as "real options." The event will feature academic and professional presentations of theoretical and applied work, workshops and case discussions, examples of experiences from the field and panel discussions.

The keynote speaker will be Eduardo S. Schwartz, professor of finance at UCLA Anderson, who will discuss "Rational Pricing of Internet Companies." Schwartz, one of the early pioneers in real options practice, has made significant contributions to the theory and practice of asset and securities pricing, developing models for pricing complex securities, and real assets such as natural resource investments, R&D projects and Internet companies. He has been associate editor for more than a dozen journals, including the "Journal of Finance" and the "Journal of Financial Economics," and is currently a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.

The conference will take place at UCLA Anderson, Korn Hall, 110 Westwood Plaza in Los Angeles. For cost, registration and other information, please call UCLA Anderson's Finance Department at (310) 825-2508.
