Biography
Tom Wurster is a former senior partner and managing director in The Boston Consulting Group's Los Angeles office, where he most recently led the West Coast. He joined BCG in 1978, and was elected vice president and director in 1985.
Wurster has extensive experience consulting leading companies, with a particular focus on media and technology. Relevant recent assignments include restructuring program development and implementation, growth pathway identification and selection, and merger integration planning and implementation.
He is the co-author of two articles published in the Harvard Business Review, including "Strategy and the New Economics of Information," and is the co-author of the book Blown to Bits: How the New Economics of Information Transforms Strategy. He is a graduate of Cornell University, where he earned an A.B. in economics and mathematics with distinction. He received his MBA with honors from the University of Chicago and earned his Ph.D. in economics from Yale University.
His course, "Insight to Outcome," introduces students to an approach for getting from strategic insight to desired outcome and develops its practical application to a number of important business processes.
