UCLA Anderson School of Management
Welcome from the MBA Student Affairs Office!

Student Affairs is excited to introduce ourselves! My name is Jessica Luchenta, and I’m the Assistant Dean of the department. The team and I look forward to getting to know you over the course of the next 2 years.

We manage many facets of your time at Anderson. We connect you to UCLA resources and services, like health insurance and parking. We facilitate academic operations – we schedule Anderson courses, help you enroll, provide academic advising, tutors, and more. We also partner with both first year and second-year elected student leadership to manage the full ecosystem of student clubs and organizations at Anderson. And we make sure you have all the support you need as an individual along the way.

We also coordinate Anderson Onboarding, which begins Monday, July 31.  During Onboarding, you’ll take your first few MBA courses. You’ll also receive in-depth preparation for the recruiting process, plus informational programming from all the various departments at Anderson that work together to support your educational experience. And of course, it wouldn’t be business school without lots of opportunities for socializing and networking. All of this will be conducted in person.   From now until you arrive on campus, keep your eye out for an email from us every week! These emails will contain critical updates and important action items. Our friends in the Parker Career Management Center will also email you regularly; this is how we make sure you're 100% ready to go for your MBA. Your time at UCLA Anderson will be a transformative experience that takes you both to the places you want to go and to places you never expected - and Student Affairs will be there for you at every step. Stay tuned for more! Sincerely, Jessica

Onboarding Timeframe

Anderson Onboarding will be held Monday, July 31 – Wednesday, September 20, 2023. As you already know from your admissions process and your research on the Admit Central website, Anderson Onboarding is a required component of your degree program. This is the start of your MBA; consider yourself a full-time student again beginning July 31! During the Onboarding period, you can expect to be busy throughout the day from about 8am to 5pm PT, Monday through Friday. You’ll be participating live and in-person in academic classes, course review sessions, career-related workshops and events, and other Anderson departmental programming. In addition, optional student-led social activities will be held on some evenings and weekends. Through these Student Affairs emails and our internal web portal for incoming students which you will access soon, we’ll ensure that you have the latest updates so that you are always well-informed and prepared both before and throughout Onboarding!

Introducing the Anderson Onboarding Committee

Our office works in partnership with a dedicated group of students in the Class of 2024, the Anderson Onboarding Committee (AOC). AOC Co-presidents Sarah Gerlach and Doug Chang and the entire AOC team are planning a variety of social activities and experiences that will foster meaningful social connections and instill the Anderson culture within the Class of 2025. You’ll hear from AOC via email and on Slack in the coming weeks!

Information for International Students

Throughout Onboarding, our office, the Parker Career Management Center, and AOC will offer programming specifically designed for international students. Further details will be communicated to our incoming international students later this summer. In the meantime, lots of valuable information can be found on the International Students page of Admit Central. Questions? Contact Hannah Pingelton, Senior Program Manager of Student Life and the Student Affairs International Student Advisor.
