UCLA Anderson School of Management

Dear Class of 2025 Admits,

First and foremost, I hope this email finds you safe, healthy, and thriving as you prepare to join us here at UCLA Anderson!

I am the Assistant Dean and Director of the Parker Career Management Center (Parker), and on behalf of the Parker team, I want to extend a warm welcome and congratulate you on your admission to the UCLA Anderson School of Management.

You will be taking your next step in your education with us as part of the UCLA Anderson community, and whether you're looking to make a major career change or advance in your current industry or function, we look forward to partnering with you on your journey to the next stage of your career.

Here are some of those resources and services that will be made available in the very near future:

  • Industry Immersion Program: More communications about the sessions will be provided in the coming weeks that will cover what these immersions are all about. Last year, those who participated found it to be an influential experience. Stay tuned for more!
  • Pre-Matriculation Deliverables: In the coming weeks, we will ask you to complete a few deliverables including a self-assessment, converting your resume to the Anderson format, and market research. We will start providing access to some of the career search resources to help you get started even before you arrive on campus.
  • Parker Career Series: Our first-year career series takes you through the fundamental stages of the MBA career search process to help you land the right internship and post-MBA jobs. Your work with us will begin in person as soon as you arrive on campus, during which you'll get a chance to immerse yourself in more in-depth self-assessment, career research, and other prep work to meet the high level of excellence that is expected of MBA students during your job search. Parker has developed programming that encourages students to explore different industries and functions, work on the critical elements of the career search process, and find time for the introspection required to make good decisions. Through a series of lectures, group and individual activities and deliverables, and by working with Parker advisors and TAs, you will learn the foundational job search and career development skills that will help you, not only in your immediate internship search, but also in your life-long career development.
  • One-on-One Advising: Within the first few weeks of arriving on campus, you will speak with an assigned Parker advisor about your career aspirations, background and skills, and learn about our services. That same advisor will track your career progression during your time at Anderson. Additionally, you will have the option to work with any other advisor on our team during your two years.
  • Anderson Career Teams (ACT): One of our signature programs, these small group coaching sessions during the fall quarter are led by second-year students and organized by industry and function. This program complements the Parker Series and goes deeper into the job search processes specific to that particular industry or function.
  • On-Campus Recruiting Events/Activities: Parker hosts numerous companies throughout the year for various in-person and virtual recruiting events, including company presentations, coffee chats, networking receptions, and a career fair, to help you build relationships with potential employers. In addition, Parker hosts on-campus and virtual interviews, resume collections, and job postings throughout the year to provide as many job opportunities for our students as possible.
  • Career Workshops: In addition to the Parker Series and other career education activities, Parker team hosts small and large group workshops throughout the year customized for your career search covering various topics such as personal branding, beyond campus recruiting, internship prep, and more. We are constantly soliciting feedback from students to develop new content that will help you in your career development.
  • Partnership with Professional Clubs: Parker is proud of the deep relationships our advisors have built with the professional clubs. We work together to organize career education programs and recruiting-related events such as career nights, Days on the Job (also known as company visits or treks), and coffee chats.
  • AND MUCH MORE...

Starting with this email, we will email you every other week with critical information and assignments to prepare you for your career navigation process as an MBA student. We encourage you to review the information and stay up-to-date with the required career deliverables to come. By staying current on those assignments, you will be better prepared when you arrive on campus on July 31. Additionally, there are career-enhancing pre-MBA programs hosted by some of our employers that you can take advantage of prior to attending Anderson, some of which are listed on Admit Central. Deadlines are approaching quickly for some of these and new opportunities are added on a rolling basis, so be sure to check this page often.

As you prepare to join us at UCLA Anderson, you can look forward to the Parker team to partner with you and provide both the exceptional support that we're known for as well as the tools to help manage your career both now and long into the future.

The Parker team is looking forward to working with you. Congratulations again, and see you soon!

Sincerely,

Phil Han
