UCLA Samueli Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering presents
The Future of Aerospace Technology and Industry in Greater Los Angeles
Southern California has played a significant role in shaping the nation’s aviation and aerospace industry. Its beginning dates back to the 1920s when the region served as home base to dozens of airframe and aircraft manufacturers and evolved through World War II as this local industry would eventually grow to become the largest in the world. Though final assembly of aircraft has diminished in the region, the evolving aerospace industry continues to be an important part of the region’s economy. Commercial space, drones, defense products, research and development and sophisticated aerospace components now dominate the local industry. With the innovation we’re witnessing across the space exploration and air technology landscape, the question arises—what is next and how can new opportunities in aerospace technology innovation impact the Los Angeles economy?
The UCLA Anderson Forecast and UCLA Samueli Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering Department will tackle these questions and provide some perspective on the future of aerospace in Southern California in a no-cost webinar the afternoon of December 1, 2020. This webinar will bring together individuals representing public and private sectors, government and academia to discuss what's coming ahead for aerospace and the local economy.
