Message from Dean Osborne: Next Stage of The Into the Next Campaign

With over 30,000 gifts and 13,000 donors, UCLA Anderson is excited to announce that we have met our $300 million Into The Next Campaign goal 18 months early! However, we are not done yet. UCLA Anderson still needs to raise more than $50 million for critical fellowships and faculty support.  It’s not too late to support the school—every gift counts. 5,700 of donors were first time donors and 78% of gifts were under $1,000. Make an Impact.

Business School Helped Mark Lim ’08 and Wife Land Shark Tank Funding

Back in 2012, Mark Lim ’08 and his wife Hanna appeared on Shark Tank to pitch their then fledgling startup Lollacup. Despite previously going through the show’s tryout process, Hanna remained nervous to pitch the Shark Tank investors. As they approached the doors to the tank Mark said to Hanna, “Listen. We're here pitching to investors who are essentially our equals. We're not here for a handout; we're not here to beg. This is an investment. We're potentially handing over part of our company that we've built.”

Drawing from lessons he learned at UCLA Anderson pitching to professors and venture capitalists, Mark helped to shape Hanna’s approach to the pitch and negotiation—ultimately leading to a $100,000 deal with sharks Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. Lollacup, now called Lollaland, produces safer sippy cups for kids and other products for infants and toddlers. Read more.
