A MESSAGE TO UCLA ANDERSON’S CLASS OF 2013------

Class of 2013,

Management Consulting Association (MCA) is one of the most important student-led career preparation organizations on campus. Although MCA's major goal is to promote and support our members' interest in pursuing a career within management consulting and/or corporate strategy, the events we organize, particularly the case preparation workshops, have proved to be useful for members seeking career in various functional areas, such as internal consulting, marketing, and operations.

MCA's events are happening fast, and we encourage you to join us now to immediately begin your career preparation process with us. 

Coming up in the fall quarter, we have the All-Student Kickoff (Monday, Sept 26th, 2011) and the Firm Kickoff (Thursday, Sept 29th, 2011) events for our members. 

The All-Student Kickoff will be our first event for members to network with second years who have gone through the case preparation and consulting recruiting process. There will also be an etiquette session, where we will review the proper dress, speech, and behavior at various MCA recruiting events.  Participation from all members will be mandatory. 

The Firm Kickoff is an event for members to begin exploring the different careers within the consulting and strategy fields. In 2010, the MCA lined up 5 top-tier consulting firms and in-house strategy groups to participate in this event, including Deloitte, IBM and Mattel. A keynote speech was be delivered by a Deloitte partner, and was followed with a networking session for members to speak directly to the firm's representatives. 

These events will be critical in your recruiting process, and will only be limited to MCA members. 

Please keep in mind that many companies have begun to choose to employ the case interview method to evaluate their candidates, and there is no short cut to nailing down these interviews. MCA's case preparation workshops introduce you to tackling these cases in a systematic approach, and assist you in developing the framework to not only get to the answers, but also present yourself well to impress the recruiters and get to the following interview round.
