THE MBA APPLICATION PROCESS

Across the board, undergraduate institution and transcripts play a significant role in your business school application. It's important for candidates to understand how their undergraduate school and grades are judged by each target business school.   You should be knowledgeable about which schools and types of institutions are regular feeders into your target MBA schools. Does the business school admit applicants from a variety of institutions?  Most of the top-tier schools admit from nationally-ranked and well-known regional institutions.  Beware that some admissions offices are more pedigree-conscious than others; that is, Ivy-League and top liberal arts schools alumni may find favor.

Thanks to computerized applications, this does not have to be your bedroom!

This is important particularly if you went to a regional college that may not be well known outside of its local area.   For example, if you went to a HBCU (Historically Black College/University) in Tennessee or a small college in New Mexico, make sure to learn how your alma mater will be judged by someone less familiar with your college.   You will need to ensure that other parts of your application speak persuasively for you.
