Eddie C. Brown

Ed Brown, President and Portfolio Manager/Analyst founded Brown Capital Management in 1983 and began his career in this industry in 1970. Before this, he was a Portfolio Manager at T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. and Irwin Management Company. Ed worked outside of the investment business as an electrical engineer for 5 years. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a Chartered Investment Counselor (CIC). Ed earned a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from the Indiana University Graduate School of Business, a Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) from New York University and a Bachelor of Science (BSEE) in Electrical Engineering from Howard University. Ed is active in community affairs, serving on the boards of the East Baltimore Development Inc., the Greater Baltimore Committee, and is Co-Chair of “Reason to Believe.” He serves on two corporate boards, Mercantile Bankshares Corporation and Municipal Mortgage Equity LLC. He is also a member of the Presidents’ Roundtable. Ed has been a regular panelist on Wall $treet Week with Louis Rukeyser, now Louis Rukeyser’s Wall Street, since 1979, and was the show’s sole 1996 inductee to the Hall of Fame with the likes of John Templeton, Peter Lynch and Milton Friedman.
