Maria Jankowska, Librarian, UCLA Charles E. Young Research Library


Maria Anna Jankowska is the Librarian for Economics/Data Services and Government Information at the UCLA Charles E. Young Research Library. She holds a Ph.D. in economics from Poznan University of Economics in Poland and an M.L.I.S. from the University of California at Berkeley. In 2004/05 she was awarded a Senior Fulbright Fellowship. She is the founding editor of Electronic Green Journal (http://escholarship.org/uc/uclalib_egj), the first open access peer- reviewed journal devoted to international environmental topics. Since 1994, the journal provides a platform for scholarly communication in the area of international environmental research. In 2002, Library Journal named her as one of fifty "Movers and Shakers" in American librarianship. Maria was recognized for her scholarship in libraries, work on synthesizing information for Web access, promotion of environmental ethics and information, and national and international activities. In 2010, she co-authored an article in College & Research Libraries entitled "Sustainability Challenges for Academic Libraries: Planning for the Future."
