Stock Market Research Analyst Competition

"Deciding to learn about P/E ratios and other market concepts during my weekends in high school has truly gone a long way. After completing the program I attended USC's Marshall School of Business and decided to major in Finance because of my experience at Riordan. I currently work in New York City as an investment banking analyst. I never imagined working on Wall Street 8 years ago as a wide-eyed 15 year old from East Los Angeles. Please continue challenging and motivating Scholars to dream and passionately pursue their goals- the only thing separating them from their present state and their future aspirations is time itself."

Congratulations Team Marriott!
Winner of the 19th Annual
Stock Market Research Analyst Competition

At the beginning of the program year, Riordan Scholars are divided into Stock Market Analyst Competition teams. Over the course of eight months, each team researches a publicly traded Fortune 500 company within an assigned industries. With guidance and instruction from UCLA Anderson alumni, each team works together to create a detailed presentation, which includes a company overview, a review of the company's financial performance, and a buy or sell recommendation. The project introduces students to the excitement and intellectual task of understanding the financial markets culminating with the annual Stock Market Analyst Competition where teams present and compete by industry.

What Riordan Scholars Say About the Stock Market Analyst Competition

San Fernando High School, 2010

"Being able to participate in this year's Stock Market Competition is a great privilege. The Stock Market Leaders, Paul Baranello, Patrice Greenwood- Eitner, and Jeff Kabot have motivated us to pursue a post-secondary education by giving us insight into the business world. They have taught us about how private and public owned companies operate. The knowledge that they impart to us has had an enormous impact on me. Knowing that there is someone, some organization that cares for me has encouraged me to continue pursuing exceptional grades. I am extremely lucky and honored to be a part of this program."

"Being Yahoo!'s Stock Market Team Leader has been a rewarding experience. My team has taught me a lot about bringing together a group of diverse people. We may not be alike, but we've learned to come together, despite our differences, and work together as a team."
