Saturday Business Institute

SBI provides first-year high school students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills and begin to navigate the college application process.

The Riordan Programs’ Saturday Business Institute (SBI) is a school site-based program modeled after the Riordan Scholars program. SBI initiatives are designed to expose 9th and 10th graders to college and business and to create a pipeline to our Riordan Scholars Program. Approximately 20-25 students are selected by a school administrator to participate in the SBI program. There are currently 5 high school sites: Alliance Renee & Meyer Luskin College-Ready Academy, Alliance Marc & Eva Stern Math and Science School,  Centinela Valley Union High School District, Da Vinci Schools and St. Mary’s Academy.

The program includes:

  • Four Saturday sessions at the school site
  • College Action Plan and financial aid counseling
  • Professional development workshops, including essay writing, resume writing, interviewing techniques, public speaking
  • Career exploration workshops
