For 31 years, the Riordan Programs have focused on developing tomorrow’s leaders with unparalleled resources for first-generation college students. On February 20, 2018, the Riordan community celebrated the accomplishments of our program and its graduates at our annual fund-raiser gala, featuring an awards presentation for our alumni, board members and advocates, and a concert by Black Violin.

Black Violin is the duo of classically trained violist Wil B. and violinist Kev Marcus, who mesh classical music with hip-hop influences to create a distinctive, multi-genre sound. They have shared the stage with notable artists including Kanye West, Aerosmith and Tom Petty, and have collaborated with Wu-Tang Clan, Wyclef Jean and Alicia Keys. Recently, Black Violin was announced as the Turnaround Artist for Mary M. Bethune Elementary School in Broward County, Florida, where they grew up. Turnaround Arts, a national education program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, infuses arts into struggling schools to support overall reform efforts. The program was founded by President Obama’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities in 2012.

The Riordan Programs empower our most promising young adults to realize their potential and transform their lives through our Scholars, College to Career and MBA Fellows programs. We offer students unique opportunities through educational workshops and transformative experiences, and excel at engaging diverse individuals from underrepresented areas to thrive in business and leadership.

All proceeds benefit the Riordan Scholars program, scholarships and fellowships.
