UCLA Anderson to Host 4th Annual Investing Conference for Students and Local Investment Management Professionals

Features keynote speaker Antony Ressler of Ares Capital Management

LOS ANGELES (February 4, 2015) - UCLA Anderson School of Management is hosting its 4th annual UCLA Anderson Investing Conference on Wednesday, February 4, 2015, between 9 am and 4pm in Korn Convocation Hall. The free event, which connects students, alumni, and local investment management professionals, has been drawing more than 400 attendees annually since its debut in 2012.

Ares Capital Management Co-Founder and CEO Antony Ressler is the scheduled keynote speaker.  Ares is a leading global alternative asset manager with approximately $80 billion in assets under management.

The conference will also feature three panels of leading investment management professionals from companies that include DoubleLine, PIMCO, and WAMCO, who will focus discussions on some of the most pressing issues facing the equity, credit and alternative investment markets.

The equity panel, Generating Alpha in an Uncertain Environment, will examine sources of excess return despite slowing global growth rates, rising valuations, political risk and uncertainty in monetary policy. U.S. markets continue to soar to record levels buoyed by a strengthening U.S. economy, while central banks around the world implement additional easing policies to combat a slowdown global growth.

The credit panel, Investing in a Multi-Speed World, will discuss the implications of investing in global fixed income markets amid diverging global monetary policies and growth rates. Global fixed income investing is primed to undergo unprecedented change as Western Europe and Japan implement new easing programs at the same time the United States Federal Reserve grapples with the timing of  interest rate increases and unwinding their historically large balance sheet.

The alternative investments panel, Beyond Traditional Risk Assets, will consider investing opportunities outside of the traditional equity and fixed income markets. In light of the recent appreciation in asset prices, equity valuations in the stock market, the uncertainty surrounding interest rates and fixed income markets, many institutional investors have turned their focus to alternatives to achieve desired returns.

The conference, sponsored by the Laurence and Lori Fink Center for Finance & Investments, the UCLA Anderson Investment Association and Jackson Square Partners, takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at UCLA Anderson’s Korn Convocation Hall. The free event is open to registered participants.
