Chairman, President & CEO of Deckers Outdoor Corporation to Deliver Commencement Address at UCLA Anderson School of Management

Angel R. Martinez is a marketing and product visionary

LOS ANGELES -- UCLA Anderson School of Management today announced that Angel R. Martinez, Chairman, President & CEO of Deckers Outdoor Corporation, will address this year's MBA, Fully Employed MBA (FEMBA), and Ph.D. graduates on June 11, 2010. The ceremony will take place at 4 p.m. in Wilson Plaza on the UCLA campus.

"Angel Martinez is an inspirational leader widely known as a trend setter and expert in his field, propelling organizations to grow rapidly despite fierce global competition," said Judy Olian, dean of UCLA Anderson School of Management and John E. Anderson Chair in Management. "His entrepreneurial spirit and inclusive vision will motivate our students to pursue both success and a larger purpose in their lives."

Martinez is a marketing and product visionary with an outstanding history of launching brands and shaping future trends in the footwear industry. At Deckers Outdoor Corporation, he oversees five global footwear brands: Teva®, UGG® Australia, Simple® Shoes, Ahnu® and TSUBO® and currently serves as the company's Chairman of the Board. Martinez was named as the 2008 "Person of the Year" by Footwear News, being one of only two individuals to have received this honor twice.

Before driving innovation at Deckers, Martinez played a pivotal role in launching Keen Footwear, which was recognized in its first year of operation as REI "Vendor Partner of the Year." During his time at Keen LLC, Martinez helped secure the company's global status as a leading designer, manufacturer, marketer and distributer of performance outdoor footwear. Martinez also served as the Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of the Reebok portfolio of brands. In his 21 years with Reebok, Martinez used his entrepreneurial vision and managerial dexterity to consistently develop the company's products and image. Earlier in his career, Martinez served as President and CEO of The Rockport Company, the largest subsidiary of Reebok International Ltd. where he successfully directed the development and global implementation of a product and marketing program dedicated to broadening the brand franchise to younger consumers.

Martinez's commitment to corporate social responsibility is demonstrated through Deckers' support of numerous charitable organizations, programs and partnerships that focus on minimizing the organization's environmental footprint, as well as through the creation of a cross-functional Ethical Supply Chain team tasked with developing guidelines that govern the environmental and social practices of its business. Martinez is also a founding member of the Board of Advisors for the Reebok Human Rights Awards and currently serves on the boards of Tupperware, the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and the Advisory Board for UC Santa Barbara's Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management. Martinez is a graduate of UC Davis.
