UCLA Anderson IS Associates Names Fox Networks Group Chairman and CEO Tony Vinciquerra Executive Leader of the Year
Honored for visionary leadership in information technology
LOS ANGELES -- UCLA Anderson School of Management today announced that it will honor Fox Networks Group Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Tony Vinciquerra with the 2009 IS Associates Executive Leadership Award. The award, given annually by the top-tier business school, recognizes senior executives in Southern California who do an extraordinary job of driving information technology (IT) within their organization. The award will be presented to Vinciquerra at the IS Associates Executive Leadership Dinner on Dec. 2, 2009, at the UCLA campus.
"We're witnessing the total transformation of the media and entertainment industry. Information technology is the essential driver of the industry's future," said Judy Olian, dean of UCLA Anderson School of Management. "Tony Vinciquerra is a leader who sees that future - exploiting IT to drive innovation and creativity, explore new media, increase revenue and market share, and position Fox Networks Group as a trendsetter in its industry."
Vinciquerra has been an architect of Fox's tremendous growth in broadcasting and cable television over the past decade and is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the top-rated Fox Broadcasting Company, including program development, marketing, finance, advertising sales, affiliate relations, administration and human resources. Vinciquerra also manages the business activities of FOX Sports, technological support entity Fox Networks Engineering & Operations, and oversees Fox's ever-expanding portfolio of programming services, including the Fox International Channels, which manages over 170 broadcast and cable channels in over 50 countries.
As the media landscape continues to evolve at an accelerated pace, Vinciquerra has consistently leveraged the value information systems and technology provide to create a competitive business advantage for the Fox enterprise. He spearheaded initiatives to use technology to increase sales, reduce overhead and improve customer experience while aiming to improve the work experience for employees through enhanced remote access capabilities.
In facing one of the greatest challenges and opportunities for the traditional television business - the vertical integration of the online complement to the television product - Vinciquerra devised a strategy that has allowed the Fox Digital Media Group to grow exponentially in the last few years. Vinciquerra has used this period to further leverage information technology and rethink the Fox approach to conducting business.
In addition to being a successful leader, Vinciquerra is a champion of the many "green" initiatives undertaken at Fox. From the simplicity of providing executive sponsorship, to the many paper reduction and power saving initiatives he supports, he has helped use technology to make Fox one of the leading contributors to News Corporation's carbon footprint reduction goals.
"UCLA Anderson IS Associates is very excited to honor Mr. Vinciquerra as he has consistently leveraged information technology to create a sustainable competitive business advantage for his organization," said Cindy McKenzie, 2010 Chair, UCLA Anderson IS Associates. "He has worked closely with his IT team to implement significant technology advances throughout his organization in support of his business strategy, cost reduction, employee satisfaction and green IT."
With over 30 years experience in the media industry, Vinciquerra continues to drive innovation at Fox - from how the company approaches advertising, to the vertical integration of linear and non-linear content distribution, to the elevated importance of leveraging technology.
