Kumar Rajaram Promoted to Professor
Recognized for scholarship, teaching and collegiality
LOS ANGELES - UCLA Anderson faculty member Kumar Rajaram has been promoted to Professor, Step I. Professor Tony Bernardo, chair of the Anderson faculty said the following in a statement:
“It is my great pleasure to announce that Kumar Rajaram has been promoted to Professor, Step I. Kumar is a great scholar, a phenomenal teacher, and a wonderful colleague. We are very fortunate to have him on the faculty. Please join me in congratulating Kumar on his well-deserved promotion.”
Rajaram is a professor in Anderson’s Decisions, Technology and Management department. Professor Rajaram's current research interests include improving operations in the health care industry, non-profit sector and in the process manufacturing sectors including food processing, pharmaceuticals and the petrochemical industry. He has focused on developing analytical models of complicated systems with a strong emphasis on practical implementation. His research has been published in journals such as Operations Research, Management Science, Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Marketing Science and the European Journal of Operational Research. He has been awarded the Eric and 'E' Juline Faculty Excellence in Research Award at UCLA Anderson.
Professor Rajaram teaches the MBA core course on operations and technology management, various Executive Education courses and doctoral level courses on operations management and models for operations design, planning and control. He has been awarded the George Robbins Award, the Citibank Award and the Neidorf "Decade" Award for excellence in teaching.
Prof. Rajaram received his Ph.D. in operations management from The Wharton School in Pennsylvania, where he also earned an M.A. in managerial science and applied economics. He holds an M.S. in industrial engineering and operations research from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, an M.Sc. in Mathematics from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in Pilani, India and a B.E. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, also from the Birla Institute.
