UCLA Anderson School Hosts 3rd Annual International Career Fair
International Business Students Have Opportunity to Network with Premier Global Companies
LOS ANGELES – The 3rd Annual University of California International Business Consortium (UCIBC) was held at UCLA Anderson School of Management on Friday, March 2, 2007. More than 300 students attended the event and over 60 recruiters from 26 companies presented.
The day-long career event featured international business students, the majority of whom hail from University of California graduate business programs. Participating schools included UCLA Anderson School, UC Irvine Merage, UC San Diego IRPS, UC San Diego Rady, UC Riverside Anderson, UC Davis, UC Berkeley Haas, and USC Marshall School of Business.
“This event addresses the needs of international students and companies that are interested in candidates with international, multi-cultural backgrounds,” said Phil Han, associate director, Parker Career Management Center, UCLA Anderson School.
“The graduate business programs at the various University of California schools came together and pooled our resources to bring a critical mass of international students and corporations together for this unique event,” he said.
The annual UCIBC event focuses on the needs of international students, who often find fewer job opportunities available through the traditional MBA recruiting process. Additionally, the event benefits companies that cannot spend resources to visit multiple campuses to specifically target international students.
This consortium provides an invaluable opportunity for international students to network with potential employers, experience targeted company presentations and have one-on-one interviews with various corporate representatives.
“I was able to meet not only recruiters from all industries and verticals, but also other international students from all over California,” said Shirish Anand (’08), UCLA Anderson. “This provided a very unique opportunity for us to build our professional network and learn about experiences of other international students.”
Both international and local companies participated in the event. Attendees included Bainbridge Barclays Capital, Belkin International, Inc., CBH, Inc., Chinatrust Bank (USA), CIA, Centre People Appointments LTD., Contact Singapore, Deloitte Tax LLP, Expo Design Center (Home Depot). Farmers Insurance Group of Companies, Frito-Lay, ICW Group, IDEO, IMS Health, Ingram Micro, Intel Corporation (China), Kaneko & Associates, Motorola, Inc., NuVasive, Inc., Providential Holdings, Qualcomm, Target Stores, TaylorMade-addidas Golf Company, TRIANZ and UTi Worldwide.
