UCLA Anderson Appoints Alumna As Its New Director of Alumni Relations

UCLA Anderson has appointed Charlotte Brownlee as director of alumni relations. Brownlee most recently served as the school’s director of corporate and foundation relations.

An UCLA Anderson alumna herself, a member of the class of 1997, Brownlee brings a first-hand UCLA Anderson graduate management educational experience to her new position. While a student, Brownlee served as president of the Anderson Student Association (ASA) and as a teaching assistant for the Johnson & Johnson Head Start Management Fellows Program.

In her new position, Brownlee will focus on supporting UCLA Anderson’s global network of more than 30,000 alumni. Her responsibilities will include creating and facilitating activities designed to enhance the relationship between the school and its alumni constituency groups, which span some 32 alumni chapters and clubs around the world.

Brownlee will also serve as the school’s key liaison with Executive Committee of the UCLA Anderson Alumni Board of Directors. As such, she will work with the Alumni Board to continue to develop timely and useful networking, professional development and educational activities that will help keep UCLA Anderson alumni connected to the school and foster increasing levels of private support.

“Alumni are a critical component of the ultimate success of any academic institution,” Brownlee said. “As an alumna, I’m delighted to have an opportunity to help my fellow alumni around the world create a lifelong relationship with UCLA Anderson.”

Brownlee notes that the current economic climate has created changing needs for business school alumni and will therefore present a welcomed challenge. She plans to provide alumni with an increase in networking tools and will support new requirements for updating skills through continuing education.

“In meeting with key constituency groups around the world, including alumni, it’s clear that the need for an active alumni network has never been greater,” said Bruce Willison, dean of UCLA Anderson. “We are pleased to have someone with Charlotte’s tremendous enthusiasm, diverse career experience and knowledge about UCLA Anderson to help us cultivate stronger relationships with our alumni.”

With regard to the day-to-day operations of the Office of Alumni Relations, Brownlee will oversee a variety of functions, including: alumni services; volunteer management; alumni web strategy and online services; alumni database management; and student outreach efforts. Additionally, she will direct the school’s annual alumni weekend and its accompanying reunions. She will also provide input to and direction on UCLA Anderson Assets, the school’s quarterly alumni magazine.

Brownlee’s broad experience includes more than 10 years of marketing and corporate experience, including positions as group manager and buyer for children’s wear at Macy’s. She also held a managerial position with Deloitte Consulting, where she focused on process re-engineering and change management in the high technology and consumer business sectors. Prior to her position at Macy’s she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Harvard University in 1989.

Originally from Santa Barbara, Calif., Brownlee currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband Alex Corman, who is also a graduate of UCLA Anderson (’96), and their two children.
