Los Angeles with Professor Eric Sussman

Dean Judy OlianIn downtown Los Angeles around 130 alumni gathered at the largest UCLA Anderson Worldwide Welcome Week event to hear Professor EricSussman opine on the question of whether to own or rent in today’s real estate market. Both sales and pricing are currently up and improving but this may be due to supply driven factors. Single-family residence inventory is near its lowest level in seven years. In most regions across the country home ownership levels are declining and the number of renters in on the rise. This is especially true amongst the younger demographic who are both content to rent and saddled with huge student loan and consumer debt balances don't have many options. Simultaneously the high price of fuel and transportation and the need to remain mobile in the job market had helped lead to the downtown renaissance across the country.
