Alumni Spotlight | Branching Out with Diversity Food Brands’ Jeffrey Keys ‘96

Jeffrey Keys ‘96 "Of all the skill sets I picked up specifically at Anderson, I learned not to fear failure and not let it stop me from branching out on my own."

Jeffrey Keys ‘96 started his career as a young man working in fast food restaurants. After college, he transitioned into commercial banking, which led him to work on specialized lending for franchising, providing him exposure to different brands and operating companies. After getting his MBA at UCLA Anderson, he moved to New York and put together a private equity fund focused on increasing minority participation in major franchise chains and brands.

Keys is now the president of Diversity Food Brands LLC, a consolidator, operator and licensor of food services brands. When asked about how business school influenced his professional choices, Keys said “It’s the Anderson culture that I took with me when I graduated, in that I had the desire to create an environment where I could do something that I loved—and surround myself with people who shared that vision and passion.” Read more of the interview with Keys.
