On June 10, we welcomed our newest group of graduates to the UCLA Anderson Alumni Network from the Fully Employed MBA, Full-Time MBA and Ph.D. programs. Dean Judy Olian encouraged the Class of 2016 to share their good fortune moving forward and reminded them that UCLA Anderson will always be their home. Mitch Kupchak '87, General Manager of the Los Angeles Lakers, delivered a heartfelt keynote touching on how his MBA from UCLA's Graduate School of Management enabled him to move from the court as a player into the Lakers' front office. Quoting one of his mentors Hall of Famer Jerry West, Kupchak said "If you are afraid to be wrong then you will always end up in the middle of the pack." Read more...

Professor Mike Hanssens’ entire illustrious academic career has been spent at UCLA Anderson. When asked what prompted him to choose Anderson and what kept him here, he noted "Ours is not a "paradigm" school where there is one paradigm that everyone believes in and practices. This is a much more diverse group of faculty with diverse interests, which I have always appreciated."

Along the way, Hanssens also co-founded leading analytics company MarketShare. He officially retired from teaching in the fall of 2015 but remains the director of the Morrison Family Center for Marketing Studies and Data Analytics and continues his work with Ph.D students and research focused on answering the question "How well does marketing work?"
