Ed Leamer is Running for Vice President of the United States

Ed LeamerProfessor Ed Leamer has a new role to add to his already impressive resume. Leamer, currently UCLA Anderson's Chauncey Medberry Chair and director of the UCLA Anderson Forecast, is running as a write-in candidate for the Vice President positon along with presidential candidate and fellow economist Laurence Kotlikoff. "We think every bill that goes through Congress should have a youth impact statement. There should be an assessment as to how this affects the youth of America. And if it's adverse, then we ought to avoid that," said Leamer. He proposes that the nation focus on the following policies: 1. employment prospects for high school and college graduates 2. responsibility of the elderly or near-elderly to take care of themselves 3. amount of student debt. Learn more about why he believes these three issues can help ensure that America will be a great place in the future.

Google's Nan Boden '11 will Deliver Executive MBA Commencement Address

Google’s head of global alliances for enterprise Dr. Nan Boden ’11 will be delivering this Saturday's commencement address to our Class of 2016 Executive MBA graduates. "I would never have ended up in my position—and I mean never—if I hadn’t taken the road through Anderson’s EMBA program," said Boden. She was formerly the CEO of Myricom, a successful Caltech spinoff that helped pioneer high-performance computer networking. Read more...

Creating an Early Advantage for the Full-Time MBA Program

To address the disadvantage UCLA Anderson Full-Time MBA students experience due to having a later start relative to other MBA programs, this year’s incoming students will be starting on August 1 instead of September. This early advantage will also combat a second issue of a fall quarter workload that is typically quant heavy and intense. This gigantic shift in timing will create substantial benefits including providing students more time for career exploration and alleviate the pressure to choose between focusing on academic vs. career efforts as they transition into the program. Learn more about why Associate Dean Rob Weiler ’91, who oversees the Full-Time MBA program’s admissions, career services and student affairs, believe this new summer start will improve student performance in both the classroom and in the job search process.
