Saturday, May 7 | Alumni Reunions '81, '86, '91, '96, '01, '06, '11

Seven reunion classes will descend upon Santa Monica Beach and take over Hotel Casa Del Mar and Shutters on the Beach Hotel for the largest UCLA Anderson alumni gathering of the year. There will be cocktails, a beach sunset, and an elegant three-course dinner. Then the evening will continue with dancing, music and photo booth fun.

We are proud to announce an inspiring, catalytic gift from Judy and Bernard Briskin, founding a new Marketing Specialization for the MBA curriculum and establishing The Judy and Bernard Briskin Family Plaza. This generous endowment also provides fellowships to our students specializing in marketing. It creates the "Briskin Marketing Student of the Year" award in the MBA and fully employed MBA programs. It will also bring "Briskin Distinguished Visitors" to speak at special UCLA Anderson seminars and will enable state-of-the-art technology while fulfilling high-priority needs.

A former WWII Marine, "Bernie" Briskin (’49) graduated from UCLA with a B.S. in business administration; he went on to marry Judy, who also attended UCLA. Bernie is responsible for growing Gelson’s Markets into the prestigious grocery store chain it is today. This gift helps push our Into the Next Campaign toward its $300 million goal, and is part of the University’s broader $4.2 billion Centennial Campaign, culminating in 2019, the 100th Anniversary of UCLA’s founding.

LGBTQ Awareness Week returned to UCLA Anderson on April 11 with activities and events ranging from the Ask A Gay forum to the observation of the National Day of Silence. A central part of the week was the Ally Pledge of solidarity, which requires a person to be an ally to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community—as well as support the Out@Anderson LGBTQ Club and those beyond the Anderson campus whether they be friends, family, or colleagues. UCLA Anderson announces the addition of a specialization of social impact to the curriculum, enabling students to meet the evolving needs of today's business world. "Today's world calls for a more holistic approach to business, as customers demand more transparency and social responsibility from the companies they engage with," said Professor of Finance
Bhagwan Chowdhry, who led the creation of the new specialization. Social Innovation Week also returned to UCLA Anderson April 18-21 bringing together thought leaders and founders of mission-drive businesses across sectors to explore solutions to the world's biggest challenges and inspire social change through a set of speakers panels, screenings and mixers.
