2015 Faculty Awards Honors Anderson's Best in Teaching, Research, Leadership and Mentorship

Congratulations to the recipients of the 2015 Anderson Faculty Awards who were honored on June 3 for their excellence in teaching, research, leadership, and/or mentorship. This year's award recipients include:

  • Neidorf "Decade" Teaching Award:

  • Eric and “E” Juline Faculty Excellence in Research Award: Paola Giuliano
  • La Force Award: Sushil Bikhchandani for his 27 years of exemplary service
  • Dean’s Prize for Outstanding Faculty Mentorship of Ph.D Students: Brett Trueman 
  • Xavier Drèze Prize: Strategy Ph.D student  Vanessa Burbano '15 for her paper “Corporate Social Responsibility and Firm Performance: Field Experimental Evidence on the Role of Employee Salary Requirements and Productivity.”

Eric Sussman Earns UCLA Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award

UCLA Anderson’s senior lecturer of accounting and real estate Eric Sussman is the recipient of the 2015 Non-Senate Faculty Distinguished Teaching Award - an award that only three UCLA non-Senate faculty are selected for each year. In a joint announcement, Dean Judy Olian and Faculty Chairman and Deputy Dean of Academic Affairs Randy Bucklin said, “In his 20 years in the Anderson School classroom, he has proven to be a versatile and enormously popular instructor; he has taught undergraduates, MBA students, and executives in a wide range of Anderson programs, all to consistently rave reviews.“ Read more...

UCLA Anderson Launches Into the Next with Two New Research Centers

As UCLA Anderson looks into the future it can add marketing and technology to its slate of renowned research centers.

A gift of $10 million from Donald Morrison, UCLA Anderson professor emeritus, and his wife, Sherie Morrison, UCLA distinguished professor of microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics, will establish the Morrison Family Center for Marketing Studies and Data Analytics. "Marketing isn't just about creative thinking today. It includes more quantitative research that incorporates the art of econometrics, big data, psychology, behavioral research — all under the umbrella of marketing studies." said Morrison who with his gift has contributed the largest single gift from a UCLA Anderson faculty member. The Morrison Family Center will serve as a global resource for academics and practitioners as they use data and analytical tools to advance understanding of consumer markets and behaviors. With gifts totaling $11 million, James L. Easton (B.S. '59), chairman and CEO of sports equipment manufacturers Easton Sports Inc., has committed to support innovative research and scholarship in technology management through the launch of the Easton Technology Management Center. "With the creation of the Easton Technology Management Center, Jim expands the impact of his vision by positioning our students to lead and drive change in the rapidly changing tech landscape of California and the world." said Dean Judy Olian. Target CEO Brian Cornell Shares Leadership Wisdom with the Class of 2015

On June 12, CEO of Target and UCLA Anderson Board of Visitors member Brian Cornell (B.A. ’81, Exec Ed CERT ’91) addressed the class of 2015 MBA, FEMBA and Ph.D. students at commencement. His keynote emphasized the importance of developing teams, embracing the diversity and continuing to learn. As you continue on your leadership journey, I challenge you to broaden (your) purpose a little, and think of ‘earn’ and ‘learn’ as equally important,” Cornell said. “Because learning is inevitable.
