Tim Armstrong, CEO of AOL, Inc. Discusses Video Content and Success Drivers

On February 12, CEO of AOL Inc. Tim Armstrong joined Dean Judy Olian for a conversation about the revolution of video content, leadership and shared success as part of the Dean's Distinguished Speaker Series at UCLA Anderson. Formerly president of Google's Americas Operations, Armstrong joined AOL Inc. in 2009 seeking to reinvent the company. "Change," he insisted, "is a competitive advantage in the industry, and a great leader must have the fortitude necessary to undergo massive amounts of it." UCLA Anderson Legend Al Osborne Shares His Journey: 42 Years at UCLA

Dr. Al Osborne, senior associate dean and professor of global economics and management, sat down with Dean Judy Olian on February 11 to share his thoughts on the decisions that shaped his success. Osborne grew up in Panama City and began his education in electrical engineering at Stanford University where he earned three more degrees in finance and economics including a doctorate. He earned tenure at Anderson in the late 1970s when he decided to join the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C. where he conducted studies on venture capital and early investments. Driven by a commitment to invest in "human capital that will drive innovation and economic well-being" he then pursed a career that gave life to the Harold and Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at UCLA Anderson, where he continues to serve as faculty director. "I'm an accidental professor," Osborne insisted. "I adopted economics as my lens for life and it has served me well." Read more...

As the executive chairman of mobile communications leader Qualcomm, Inc., Jacobs spearheads efforts to develop and commercialize mobile technology breakthroughs. Having served as the innovative leader of a broad range of technical teams at Qualcomm, Jacobs has been granted more than 50 patents for his inventions in the areas of wireless technology and devices. Effective August 1, 2015, Donald Blair will retire as CFO of NIKE, Inc and will be succeeded by Andrew Campion '03 who is currently Senior Vice President, Finance, Strategy and Investor Relations for NIKE, Inc. Andrew began his career with NIKE eight years ago and has led corporate strategic planning, finance, strategy and investor relations as well as served as CFO for the flagship NIKE brand.
