Starbucks' Chief Community Office Blair Taylor '90 Challenges Class of 2016 to Make a Social Impact
Blair Taylor '90At the full-time MBA Class of 2016 Orientation on September 16, Starbucks' EVP and Chief Community Office Blair Taylor '90 challenged the incoming class to make a fundamental investment to changing people's lives they progress in their careers. He reminded them that their generation is inheriting significant social issues and is a part of a global economy trending to outpace the U.S. economy. He urged these future business leaders to acknowledge this historical moment and seize the opportunity now to meet the needs of their generation. In sharing his personal journey, he spoke to the challenges and immense rewards he experienced from his years of leadership at IBM, PepsiCo, leading retail franchising company COI/IDC, and most recently as President and CEO of the Los Angeles Urban League. Taylor distilled his experience into his "10 Golden Nuggets of Leadership" touching on the importance of values, dreams, savings, networking, time, risk taking, and life measures. U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew Discusses U.S. and Global Economy at UCLA Anderson

On his way to the G-20 Meeting of Finance of Ministers, U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew made a stop at UCLA Anderson on September 17 to discuss the U.S. and global economy with Bloomberg's treasury correspondent Ian Katz. The class of 2016, as part of Day 3 of student orientation, enjoyed the unique opportunity to hear Lew cover a wide-range of topics including world economic growth, international sanctions against Russia, U.S. corporate tax inversions, and stemming the funds to ISIL. Alumni Relations Welcomes New Associate Dean, Jill Baldauf ('81)

Jill Baldauf ('81)Jill Baldauf (BA'79, MBA '81) has joined us as UCLA Anderson's Associate Dean, Alumni Relations. A double Bruin, Jill is a longtime friend of UCLA Anderson and well known to many in the Anderson community. Jill is also extremely active in the community, currently serving on the boards of Chrysalis, The Broad Stage, Blue Ribbon, Wildwood School, Stanford Parents Advisory Board and LA Opera. Previously, Jill served as a member of the UCLA Anderson Board of Visitors, from 1992 to 1997, and was also recognized as one of UCLA Anderson's 100 Inspirational Alumni as part of the school's 75th anniversary celebration.

Jill's 30+ year advertising career has spanned both coasts, with key positions at DDB, Grey, Ogilvy & Mather and Benton & Bowles. She has worked with packaged good clients including Procter & Gamble, Nestle, Mars and Henkel, has extensive experience working with the restaurant industry and a combined 20 years of work experience with Mattel and Hasbro. In 2003, Jill retired from her position as director of account management and new business director at DDB LA to form her own agency, Ampersand, with key client Hasbro.

Elaine Hagan '91 who was serving as interim associate dean will continue as Executive Director of the Harold and Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.
