Giora Romm '82 Shares His Story of Moving From Prison to Prestige |
On October 8, retired Major General & Inspirational Alumnus Giora Romm '82 spoke at UCLA Anderson about how he moved
from captivity to the highest levels of government and business. Romm served in the Israeli Air Force
for 33 years in various flight and senior command positions. Following his talk, he gave out copies of
his book Solitary which documents his war time experiences between 1969 and 1973 as well as his
transition into executive leadership roles at the Ministry of National Infrastructure, Jewish Agency, and
Israel's Civil Aviation Authority...

John Wooden Global Leadership Award Celebrates Qualcomm Executive Chairman Dr. Paul E. Jacobs |

Join us as we celebrate 2014's John Wooden Global Leadership Award recipient Dr. Paul E. Jacobs at
the on the evening of Monday, November 17. The award honors a corporate leader who personifies the
extraordinary standard of achievement, leadership and character associated with Coach Wooden. As
the executive chairman of communications technology company Qualcomm Inc., Jacobs is charged with
guiding the development of new technologies and Qualcomm's long-term opportunities. The evening
also awards current MBA students who embody Coach Wooden's leadership ideals and commitment to
improving the lives of others with student fellowships.

Worldwide Welcome Week Wraps Up with a Successful Run: 32 Events in 26 Cities! |
For the past two weeks, the global UCLA Anderson community gathered for events to welcome recent
grads to their respective cities. Worldwide Welcome Week kicked off with behind-the-scenes access
at family friendly Lakeshore Learning in Los Angeles and global events marketplace Eventbrite in San
Francisco. Then Vice-Chairman of Credit Suisse Robert Murley '74 shared with Orange County alumni
his UCLA Anderson story and why he is giving back as the new chair elect of the UCLA Anderson Board
of Visitors. Faculty connected with alumni, including Professor Eric Sussman in San Diego and Professor Sanjog Misra in Seattle, CA, which included stops at Amazon and Microsoft headquarters
for private events with alumni employees. New York alumni were treated to an intimate evening with
Executive Chef Ivy Stark (UCLA '93) at Dos Caminos Park Avenue. Plus, sportswear company adidas
opened its doors to Portland alumni and shared the strategy behind its stripes. The Alumni Network
made time to have fun at 14 social events overseas, a winery tour in New York, an Oktoberfest
celebration in Los Angeles, and various other alumni gatherings.

Notice anything new about our email lists? We are strengthening the UCLA Anderson Alumni Network
by improving the communications tools we use every day. Based on alumni feedback, we have
improved the how-to-use section and simplified the content and usage guidelines. We have also added
recommendations for email subjects prefixes and will get rid of the use of the subject prefix "SPAM"
with your help! If you are a regular user, we think you will like the changes. If you haven't utilized this
powerful tool, we encourage you to reach out to the Anderson community via our various regional,
class, industry, and affinity email lists. We will continue to improve how we communicate this information so let us know what you think by
