AEG Scores at the 2014 FIFA World Cup

Watch interview with AEG President and CEO Dan Beckerman '96 about leadership

Dan Beckerman ('96)As the leader of one of the world's leading sports and entertainment presenters, Dan Beckerman ('96) holds the keys to some of the world's best-known venues, including several 2014 FIFA World Cup stadiums. According to Beckerman, AEG established its presence in Brazil by following the same blueprint it used in other foreign markets successfully: open a home office and hire employees, develop relationships and invest in the community, then forge alliances with local partners and the government. AEG's international strategy is "not simply to export the American way of venue construction and management, operations and the fan experience," he said. "We try and adapt to the local customs and cultures as it relates to how they entertain, what type of food offerings they have, and the type of service they supply." MEMES' Big Data Workshop Brings Together Data Practitioners & Thought Leaders from 3 Continents

Big Data WorkshopOn June 26, UCLA Anderson's Center for Media, Entertainment, & Sports (MEMES) and Teradata crossed the pond to London to produce the third workshop in their Big Data series at Google's St. Giles High Street offices. Executives from eBay, Google, Hepsiburada, Novartis, Ogilvy & Mather, plus faculty from UCLA Anderson, Columbia, and Harvard Business schools gathered to learn how the data science revolution is transforming business, culture and even human behavior. UCLA Anderson alumni were treated to a variety of big data topics including presentations from our very own Professor Aimee Drolet Rossi on "Social Media & the Public Self" and a fireside chat with Professor Sanjay Sood and Studio Moderna's co-founder and president Sandi Cesko on "Maximizing Business Potential in Central Europe." Amidst the excitement of the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon not all was business in London. Alumni and faculty gathered after the workshop at a reception to view the USA vs. Germany FIFA World Cup game.
