UC Davis appoints new Athletics Director

Terrance J. "Terry" Tumey (MBA’93) has been appointed to the position of Director of Athletics at UC Davis. Tumey played football for the Bruins, earning a bachelor's degree in 1988 and an MBA from UCLA Anderson in 1993. Tumey, a seasoned administrator, previously served as athletics director at Dominican University of California in San Rafael. Under Tumey's leadership, Dominican University's athletics program won Pacific West Conference accolades for highest student academic achievement for three consecutive years (2010, 2011 and 2012) and community engagement (2010). From 2001 to 2009 Tumey served in the San Francisco 49ers front office, rising from personnel assistant to director of football operations. He previously held coaching positions with the NFL’s Denver Broncos (1999-2001) and UCLA Bruins (1995-99).At UC Davis, Tumey inherits an athletics program with 23 intercollegiate sports, more than 600 student-athletes and a $23 million annual budget.

Bruins at the Olympics 

August 9 (London): UCLA Alumni and friends are invited to a reception to celebrate UCLA at London 2012. Al Osborne, Senior Associate Dean of UCLA Anderson, will MC this exciting Bruins and London celebration with Valorie Kondos Field (UCLA women's gymnastics head coach), Ann Meyers Drysdale (former basketball player, now sports broadcaster), and Tasha Schwikert (former gymnast, now sports broadcaster). Thirty-two UCLA students, alumni and staff are taking part in the 2012 Olympic Games. They will represent nine nations. Daniel Andrei is an assistant Professor of Finance at UCLA Anderson where he teaches Option Markets. He conducts research in the area of theoretical asset pricing, with a special focus on the role of information in financial markets. In particular, his most recent research explores the impact of the transmission of information through word-of-mouth communication on the dynamics of stock market volatility. Read more...

 

Sanjog Misra is Professor of Marketing at UCLA Anderson where his current research involves the use of structural econometric methods to study consumer and firm decisions. His particular interests involve understanding firm decisions pertaining to pricing, distribution and salesforce management issues and how consumers make discrete choices. Read more...

 

Danny Oppenheimer is an associate Professor of Marketing whose research focuses on human decision making, with a particular emphasis on understanding what information people attend to when making decisions. He has also done research in psychometric assessment, charitable giving, people's understanding of randomness/stochastic systems, causal reasoning, metacognition and the psychological underpinnings of democracy.
