Jamaal Wilkes

Jamaal Wilkes is the nationally recognized founder and president of Jamaal Wilkes Financial Advisors(JWFA). Upon retirement from the National Basketball Association in 1985, Mr. Wilkes had a seven year career as a mortgage and real state consultant. Mr. Wilkes obtained his securities licenses (series 7, 63 & 65) and life insurance license and became a registered rep with AXA Advisors in 1999.

JWFA was formed in 2003 upon Mr. Wilkes' realization that many people experience "financial fragmentation."  Successful in their chosen businesses and/or careers, they are usually overwhelmed with keeping abreast of volatile financial markets, changing tax laws, fluctuating interest rates, a complex variety of financial products/services and other developments. They accumulate assets due to the conventional wisdom, a hot tip, and/or to help a friend with no comprehensive planning. Moreover, many financial advisors are more product-driven rather than solution-driven. As a result, most people own a portfolio of scattered and unrelated assets, investments, products and services at odds with one another. In short, Jamaal Wilkes, whose clients range from retirees, executives, small business owners to athletes, helps clients minimize financial fragmentation while offering solutions to their most pressing financial challenges.

In addition to investment and retirement planning, Mr. Wilkes adds value due to his tremendous wealth of experiences in sports, business and life in general. Mr. Wilkes obtained his BA degree from UCLA in 1974, and also completed advance studies in general business at UCLA in 1988.

Jamaal Wilkes has three children: Sabreen, a graduate of UCLA; Omar and Jordan, both recent graduates of UC Berkeley. Along with being one of the co-authors behind the book and audio course, "Success Under Fire: Lessons For Being Your Best In Crunch Time," Mr. Wilkes is a highly sought after motivational speaker for national organizations and Fortune 500 corporations. Mr. Wilkes has also long been charitably active in the Southern California community. Among other charities, Mr. Wilkes has hosted and sponsored for the last 17 years the annual Jamaal Wilkes - UCLA UniCamp Charity Golf Tournament, which sends nearly 1,000 children from low income-families to its residential outdoor camp every summer.
