John Wooden Global Leadership Award Dinner
Frederick W. Smith, Chairman, President & CEO of FedEx, received the 2010 John Wooden Global Leadership Award. The award presentation featured legendary basketball coach John Wooden as well as former players Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Keith Erickson and Jamaal Wilkes.

John Wooden John Robert Wooden was born in Martinsville, Indiana on October 14th, 1910. While attending high school in Martinsville he won All-State prep honors in basketball three times while leading them to the State title game his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. In 1927, his high school team won the State title. Next, he attended Purdue University and won varsity letters in both basketball and baseball. Wooden won All-America honors as a player for Purdue his sophomore, junior, and senior seasons. more > |
Deborah Roberts Deborah Roberts joined the ABC newsmagazine "20/20" in June 1995. Since then she has also served as a substitute anchor on "Good Morning America" and "World News Weekend." During her first season with "20/20," Roberts reported on a wide variety of stories, including a profile of civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks and an award-winning investigation into abuse within the Amish community. Most recently she has reported from Africa on the HIV/AIDS crisis and orphans, and the CA wildfires, which earned her an Emmy Award. She was also awarded an Emmy for her emotional, in-depth reporting on an Ethiopian American woman's journey back to Africa to find her mother, and for her work with ABC's millennium coverage. In addition she won a Clarion Award for her coverage of abuse within the Amish community. more >
