This section provides links to the career planning and job search pages for societies pertinent to Operations Research and the Management Sciences. These are all the societies on the Organizations Related to INFORMS that have career-related resources. If you have a link to add or modify, click here.

The following links are alphabetized by the societies' acronyms. 


Science's Next Wave: An Electronic Network for the Next Generation of Scientists from the (AAAS) and Science magazine. 
Next Wave is a resource which focuses on providing "accurate and timely information to help young scientists develop their career prospects." Next Wave targets upper-level undergraduates, graduate students, postdoctoral candidates, and young faculty members. While information provided is intended primarily for those in the job market, there are also articles written for current students.   

Enhancing Your Career from the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) 
Provides position listings, referral services, personalized computer career advice, miscellaneous career planning articles, and career planning publications from ACM. 

ISWorld's Listing of Positions Available from the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and the International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS). 
Contains links to various position listings available that are of interest to Information Systems professionals. Also provided are a list of other position-searching resources and links to information sources to facilitate the position search and career advancement process. AIS and ICIS now have an On-Line Placement Service associated with their annual conferences. 

Employment and Career Information from the American Mathematical Society (AMS). 
Information about Employment Information and Services, AMS-SIAM Nonacademic Career Information in the Mathematical Sciences, Career and Employment Related Articles, Other Electronic Career Resources, Career Information for High School Students, and Employment and Career Assistance for Graduate Students. Another good AMS site is their Mathematical Sciences Career Information: Project for Non-Academic Employment, which is a joint effort between AMS, MAA, and SIAM. This site contains several bulletin boards that profile mathematicians working in industry (very nice). It also contains mathematics career publications from AMS and launch points for on-line job searching. 

Placement Service from the Academy of Management (AOM) 
This service is essentially a bulletin board of applicants and positions (mainly academic positions). Although there are no positions listed for Operations Research or the Management Sciences, they do show a category for Operations Management. 

The Employment Referral Program of the Educational Society for Resource Management (APICS) 
The employment referral program finds qualified job applicants to fill crucial positions in such areas as plant management, materials management, inventory control and operations. This program screens candidates on the basis of many factors, including years of experience, education, industry type, and willingness to relocate to particular geographic areas. 

Career Center from the American Statistical Association (ASA) 
Listings are shown alphabetically by state, followed by international listings. Vacancy listings may include the institutional name and address or be identified by number as desired. 

Career Center from Council of Logistics Management (CLM)
The website has a free downloadable career guide for logistics students, a new formed resume network (members only), and a list of Executive Recruiter active through CLM conference.

Computing Research Association
Provides job listings for Computer Scientists, Computer Engineers, and Computer Researchers

Job Placement from the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI) 
Postings of positions and applicants. The service is free for student members of DSI and there is a fee for all other DSI members (you must have an active DSI membership to submit a job placement application). 

Careers and Education Page of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 
Contains general information about career planning 

Career Opportunities from IEEE's Computer Society
Contains job listings and an advertiser list (with links) from the most recent edition of the Computer Society's journal Computer

The Jobs page from the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS)
Contains job postings and job applicant listings (very limited). 

The IIE Career Center, from the Institute for Industrial Engineers (IIE)
Contains a resume referral service, job postings, and links to some popular, reputable job banks. 

Career and Employment Resources from Mathematical Association of America (MAA)
It is a resource website for mathematics students, including sample profiles, career guild, bulletin board, interviewing tips and more..

NSPE Employment Information from the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE)
Contains "classifieds," a resume placement service, links to information about professional engineers, engineering salary statistics, and links to other job search web sites. 

Career in Operational Research from the Operational Research Society of the UK (ORS: "Live OR")
Contains a nice description of OR along with descriptions of how OR is used in a variety of industries and universities. It also provides contacts for getting introductory information about the field. 

SCS Career Development from The Society for Computer Simulation (SCS)
Designed to aid SCS members, Computer Simulation professionals, and students in the advancement of their careers.  

SIAM Career Information from the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM)
Contains Professional Opportunities (mostly academic) by month. Also includes the SIAM Report on Mathematics in Industry and information on nonacademic careers in the mathematical sciences, a joint effort with AMS and MAA. This site contains several bulletin boards that profile mathematicians working in industry (very nice). It also contains mathematics career publications from AMS and launch points for on-line job searching. The SOLE Career Assistance Program from the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE).
Contains an on-line classified section and information on submitting your resume into their Resume Clearinghouse.They also include information on a recruiting service and their "Members Helping Members" program.
