Academia and industry relations.
A lot of universities want us to publish "x" number of papers/year in order to get tenure. They insist more on the number than on the quality of those papers/journals. This reduces the quality of research considerably. I think one paper in Management Science (which could take 6 months - 2 years of work or even more) is better than a dozen papers in C or D level journals. So if I want tenure, I would shoot for the C/D level journals. And this means I would be unable to train journals. And this means I would be unable to train my Ph. D. students for good research. And they would fall into the same groove when they take up a job, are there any solutions for this cycle to end?
